Stop the aging process: Monika Płusa
Plastic surgery in editorials is nothing groundbreaking in fashion, but it is always an interesting, revealing theme for a shoot. By taking what is done behind closed doors in a private medical facility and then giving it a glossy, glamorous sheen, it adds a surreal element to the ways in which we edit or enhance our bodies.
The best part of these shoots is always the beautification of the "ugly". A model with flawless makeup becomes unsettling in the way her face and body are distorted. In the end, the look with the second face created by the projector is the only time she smiles — but it is also the only time she doesn’t have a contraption pulling at her skin. She wants to keep it alive, to stop the ageing process.
