James O'Doherty: Isle

Isle is a fashion photography project that explores identity, self expression and contrast through bold styling set against an industrial urban landscape. The imagery places fluid silhouettes and expressive colour within hard architectural surroundings, creating a visual dialogue between vulnerability and strength.

Photographer James O’Doherty’s use of low angles and open space allows the garments and gestures to assert presence while the surrounding structures provide scale and tension. Natural light and muted skies soften the environment, preventing the images from feeling rigid or overly confrontational and also makes the garments pop.

Creative direction and wardrobe styling by Monsieur Pariè are central to the project’s impact. The styling blends experimental shapes, unexpected fabric combinations and statement accessories, presenting fashion as a form of personal assertion rather than decoration. Each look feels considered and purposeful, maintaining coherence across varied silhouettes.

Model Alexander Thomas delivers a confident and adaptive performance. His physicality and posture shift fluidly between looks, allowing the clothing to dictate movement and mood without losing individual character. Together, the team presents a cohesive editorial that balances experimentation with clarity and visual confidence.
