MY REAL PLASTIC PEOPLE BY SEIGAR

My Real Plastic People" by Seigar.
This series shows the "Plastic People" project with a real live model. The "Plastic People" project looks for the humanization and dignification of the mannequins found in the shop windows, and it has become a study on sociology and anthropology.

The idea of doing the same concept with a model had been around in the artist's mind for a while and this is the first time it has been done by him. The photographs are inspired by the vogueing scene which is represented in the poses. During the previous weeks' planning leading up to the shooting, Seigar was listening to Grace Jones non-stop, her powerful music was also a big influence on the attitude he was looking for.

There is a special magnetism in the Cuban origin Tenerife based model: Shira Tellechea who also draws great attention to the amazing Belles Curiosités' artistic jewelry and the vintage attire. The exclusive collection of rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets were selected by the experts of the exquisite Belles Curiosités jewelry store, adding these creative designs to emphasise the uniqueness of Shira.

This is the start of "Real Plastic People" with the pop culture references which are an obsession for the photographer.

Biography:
Seigar is a passionate travel, street, social documentary, and conceptual photographer based in Tenerife. He feels obsessed with the pop culture which shows in his series. He is a fetishist for reflections, saturated colors, curious finds, and religious icons. He also flirts with journalism and video.

His main inspiration is travelling. His aim as an artist is to tell tales with his camera, creating a continuous story line from his trips. His most ambitious projects so far are his Plastic People, a study on anthropology and sociology that focuses on the humanisation of the mannequins he finds in the shop windows all over the world, and his Tales of a City, an ongoing urban photo-narrative project taken in London.

He is a philologist and also works as a secondary school teacher. He is a self-taught visual artist, though he has done a two years course in advanced photography and one in cinema and television. He has participated in several exhibitions and his works have been featured in many publications. He has collaborated with different media such as VICE and WAG1.

He writes for Dodho and The Cultural about photography and pop culture, and for Memoir Mixtapes about music. Lately, he has experimented with video forms. His last interest is documenting identity. Recently, he received the Rafael Ramos García International Photography Award.
