The first installment of the ‘Surgery’ series, part one explores the pain behind pandering to unrealistic beauty ideals. There is an inner pain in all of us when one considers the pressure we are put under as a society to act on impulses, or ultimately - fund industries.
Beauty ideals are perpetuated by the very brands and companies who want consumers to feel inferior. Why else would the beauty and cosmetic industries exist otherwise?
From birth gender identity and expectations are pressed onto infants. Mothers are pressured to make their children aware of these ideals to. To spoon feed them the very worry and anxiety they grow up to act on.
Needless to say that no people were harmed in the making of this controversial photoshoot, but all parties involved are passionate about destroying the false boundaries placed around us as people.
Companies profit daily from the insecurities of us all. This is part one of a series exploring just how dark the low self esteem rabbit hold can end up. Follow us down it and consider if a life of perpetual self hatred is worth it in the end. From cradle to the grave.
A project exploring surgery and the perpetual disappointment it involves.
